Interview with Jessica Greyson

Jessica Greyson!

Jessica, Welcome to Homeschool Authors! Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Thank you so much Sarah. I was homeschooled from kindergarten through graduation. I am the middle child of three.

What was your favorite part about being homeschooled?
I loved being home, and the freedoms that came with it. I was a very shy child and being around others would have made me more of a clam than I was. Years later I've bloomed into a far more talkative person, but it took years of watching and studying people before that happened.

How did being homeschooled prepare you for being a writer?
The hours and hours and hours I spent reading and absorbing books and letting my imagination spin different worlds.

What caused you to start writing?
Around age twelve I started asking God to give me a life mission to glorify Him. He called me to be His writer and I said YES. Never dreaming what an extraordinary journey it would be.

What inspired you to write Annabeth's War?
Several things certainly sparked the creation of Annabeth's War. But two of the main driving forces behind Annabeth's War was to create a strong yet feminine heroine, that could carry a sword and her own without being feministic and brash. The other was to put into words something God taught me. That everything is perfect in His timing.  Ecc. 3:11

What is Annabeths's War about?
Ha, I am going to steal one of my readers words to describe it.
Annabeth, the swordmaster's daughter, had been trained by her father as the son he had wished he had.  Now Lord Raburn has seized power and she is left, the only one in the kingdom, with secrets which just might preserve the lives of her father and her prince.
If she can stay alive.

Who will enjoy this book?
This book was certainly written for ladies, tween on up, however I know that one or two boys have enjoyed I too.

Do you plan to write more books?
Yes! I certainly do. I have several written, and several in various stages from idea to a few thousand words. However I am hoping to have the story Captive of Raven Castle out sometime this summer, and we'll see where we go from there. I might have a few short stories up  my sleeve.

What are your favorite books/authors?
Oh, far far too many to name here…however I'll give you a smattering.

Lois Walfrid Johnson - Pick up any book of hers' and you'll love it.

G.A.Henty -Again almost every single one of his books. I adore his books.

Louisa May Alcott, Little Women, The Inheritance, Eight Cousins…and the list could get very long.

L. M. Mongomery, All of the Anne books!

Katherine Sophia..and her various unpublished works (though that is about to end shortly)

Amy Dashwood, Only a Novel.  I love this one sooo much!!!

And so many others that I will not mention here simply because it's getting so long.

What is the best piece of writing advice you have been given?

Up the tension. Always, up the tension.

Do you have any final thoughts?

THANK YOU SARAH!!!

You are welcome Jessica

  2. Great interview! Now I want to read "Annabeth's War." Saying the main character is a strong feminine heroine that can carry a sword but isn't feministic or brash totally pulled me in.
